Class Description: In five fun-packed lessons, I will break down the basics of sketching, shading, lighting, perspective, and working from a reference photo. Together we will turn simple shapes into drawings, study creative sketches and reference photos, and share our ideas. This class is designed for students who are just starting out with graphite pencils. It will give them a strong foundation for drawing with graphite that will equip them with the basic skills they will need to capture any drawing subject and pursue any artistic style!
Skill Level: Students should be basically familiar with using a pencil and ruler and following instructions. No prior art instruction required.
Recommended Age Range: 9+ (mature 7 and 8-year-olds welcome!)
Pricing: Option 1: Pay as you go, $5 per lesson ($25 total)
Option 2: Prepay and get half off your artist supply kit! ($32.50 total)
Option 3: Buy your own supplies; prepay and get a free lesson! ($20 total)
Art Supply Kit: You can purchase an art supply kit for an additional $15, or buy your own supplies. I have put all the links to the supplies below.

- Artist sketch paper
- My kits will include this paper, but you are welcome to purchase any sketching paper you choose!

Class Description: This course is the same as the Basic Introduction to Graphite class, but will move at a faster pace and provide more challenges and hands-on practice. This course is designed to provide a strong foundation for students who are just starting out with graphite pencils and are ready for a more serious time commitment to grow their skill.

Class Description: In this course we will explore the basics of color theory, lighting and shading in colored pencil, and colored pencil techniques such as layering and burnishing. Together we’ll be putting these lessons into practice with fun coloring page challenges. This course will provide students with the foundation they will need to shade their own sketches with colored pencils.

Class Description: In this class, I will break down the portrait-drawing process into achievable steps, with lots of hands-on practice and optional challenges to pursue at home. Together we’ll learn how to sketch and shade each facial feature separately, how to draw and correctly proportion a human face, and how to use the grid method to draw realistic portraits from a reference photo. We’ll also learn how to apply shading and lighting to the human face, practice different hairstyles and textures, and explore the differences between male and female facial features. I will be offering a PART 2 DURING THE WINTER SEMESTER, where we will explore the portrait-drawing process using colored pencils.
Skill Level: Students should have basic knowledge of sketching, shading, and lighting a subject. RECOMMENDED PREREQUISITE: Basic Introduction to Graphite

- Shade and light objects correctly in pencil AND colored pencil
- Construct and object from basic shapes
- Draw in 1-point and 2-point perspective
- Compose a dynamic scene
- Layer, burnish, and blend colored pencils
- Use complementary color schemes and layer your own colors
- I am considering offering a PART 2 OF THIS CLASS during the winter semester. (Please note that due to lack of interest in earning high school credit, neither of these classes are set up for high school credit.)
